Today, The Kicking System ran a kicking clinic at Lincoln High School in southeast San Diego. A perennial football powerhouse led by head coach Ron Hamamoto, the Hornets, who posted a 6-6 record last season, are looking for a substitute for kicker Simon Parra, who will be graduating in June. The Kicking System helped the Hornets’ coaching staff with kicking fundamentals and strength and conditioning drills. TKS also worked with rising junior Yair, a former soccer player who showed some power and raw talent in his new craft. At first, Yair’s steps were all over the place and that affected the accuracy of his kicks. After introducing the “perfect triangle technique”, we saw some end-over-end 35-yard boots from the young kicker. Also, Jair was finishing his kicking motion behind the tee. The lack of a follow through took at least 10 yards from his kicks. We instructed him to keep his eyes down longer in order for him to come through the ball and land downfield. We are looking forward to returning to Lincoln and working with Yair this week. We will keep you posted on his progress.
