Kicking Up Hope and Support for Kids in San Diego!

It was a big weekend of football with the AFC Champions, Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC Champions, San Fransisco 49ers booking travel to Las Vegas to the Super Bowl. But in sunny San Diego it was the perfect backdrop for a heartwarming event this weekend – the Kick for Kids kicking event! Hosted by The Kicking System and Dinamo SC, it wasn’t just about showcasing kicking skills, but about making a difference for young cancer warriors and their families.

Held at the picturesque San Diego River Park at Snap Dragon Stadium, the event brought together athletes of all ages to kick for a cause. More than just drills and competition, it was a display of community spirit and compassion, with every kick raising funds for Oncology And Kids (OAK). This incredible organization supports children with cancer through their diagnosis and treatment, helping them navigate the emotional challenges of this journey.

And the outcome? A resounding success! Over $500 was raised for OAK, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of the athletes and the generosity of everyone involved. As John Matich, the event organizer and lead director of The Kicking System and Dinamo SC, shared, “This wasn’t just about kicking goals, it was about kicking hope and support for those who need it most.”

For Matich, a former NCAA kicker himself, the impact of this event resonated deeply. He acknowledged the staggering statistic that more than 15,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States. But instead of letting that overwhelm, he chose to turn passion into action.
